Nico DeMattia is one of The Drive's weekend editors. As a car nerd, he enjoys pretty much everything about the gig: covering news from across the auto industry, penning reviews, and engaging with fellow enthusiasts about car culture. He started writing about cars on his own blog to express his opinions when no one else would publish them back in 2015, and eventually turned it into a full-time career.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Loves cars of any kind, from any brand, as long as they’re interesting. However, he has a soft spot for German cars from the ‘80s and ‘90s.
- He regularly wrenches on old German cars but is unsure why he enjoys the torture of it.
- Driving a new car and telling the world whether it’s crap or not is one of his favorite things in life.
EXPERIENCE
Throughout the years, Nico’s driven some absolute dream cars, co-hosted a podcast featuring interviews with industry icons such as designer Chris Bangle, and was once reluctantly flown off of Mexico’s Copper Canyon in a Cessna. He’s written for BMWBlog and The Drive.
Fun Fact
When Nico isn’t working on or thinking about cars, he’s a massive NFL fan and has a love/hate relationship with the New York Giants. He also watches too many movies and is an unapologetic Marvel nerd, a fandom he shares with his son.
