2024 Ford Mustang Price Starts at $32,515, Dark Horse Runs Nearly $60,000

With greater power comes greater MSRP. It’ll be your only option when the Chevy Camaro and Dodge Challenger are gone, though.

The 2024 Ford Mustang will cost $3,330 more than its predecessor when it arrives this year and cost at least $32,515 before options. The menacing and new Mustang Dark Horse will cost close to $60,000 and boast the most powerful 5.0-liter V8 in the range: 500 horspower. For the rest of us, the Ecoboost will start at $32,515, while the 5.0-liter, Coyote V8-powered Mustang GT will start at $43,090.

Ford made the prices public Tuesday on its consumer site and the pricing scheme spans the entire 2024 model year lineup, from the base Ecoboost to the range-topping Dark Horse. All trims increase in price over the 2023 model, which Ford justifies with more standard horsepower than ever before. The prices below include a mandatory $1,595 destination charge:

  • $32,515: Mustang EcoBoost
  • $38,040: Mustang EcoBoost Premium
  • $43,540: Mustang EcoBoost Premium convertible
  • $43,090: Mustang GT
  • $47,610: Mustang GT Premium
  • $53,110: Mustang GT Premium convertible
  • $59,565: Mustang Dark Horse

All Mustangs get a 13.2-inch touchscreen and 12.4-inch digital cockpit. Part of the price increase from 2023 to 2024 is the exclusion of a manual transmission; the six-speed is offered only on V-8-equipped GT versions.

For 2024, the Mustang upgrades to a redesigned 2.3-liter Ecoboost turbo-four whose output rises to 315 hp and 350 pound-feet of torque. The GT meanwhile goes up to 480 hp, while the new Dark Horse (basically a Mach 1 replacement) lands at 500 hp and 418 lb-ft. All are reined in by improvements to the car's chassis, which is based on the outgoing S550 but features improved suspension geometry and greater stiffness. Cars optioned with the Performance Pack will be able to make the best of this with Brembo brakes, Magneride damping, a Torsen limited-slip differential, a strut brace, and more. On GT models, the pack also includes enhanced cooling.

Whether these updates freshen the Mustang enough is yet to be seen, but it's about to become the only option regardless. Its main rival the Chevy Camaro is in a death spiral, and the bigger Dodge Challenger will be discontinued later this year. Electric alternatives from both may be coming, but they probably won't be as affordable as the Ford Mustang—if you can even call this classic pony car affordable anymore.
