If you pull out the driver drawers on my toolbox, you’ll find a well-researched and sorted variety of the leading brands and types of screwdrivers. I’ve also heard it referred to as a complete ****show. I’ve got a little bit of everything. Some Snap-Ons, and Craftsmans. All the way down to those orange-handled freebies that may actually be best used as paint stirrers. It’s amazing how what is one of the simplest tools imaginable can be so different from person to person and brand to brand.
Yes. Some things are objectively better. Like how well the tip holds onto the fastener, the quality of materials, and the warranty. But, what fits my hand may not fit yours. When you find a good screwdriver grip, it’s amazing how much better it is to use, especially for long projects. Anyway, since we all like different things I’ve rounded up some deals on a variety of brands and price ranges. There should be something here for everyone.
Starting at the more affordable end of the spectrum we have an Eastwood 9-piece screwdriver set for $15.97 which have magnetic tips, and contoured handles to make it easier to apply more torque without slipping. For $20 there’s also this Kobalt 18-piece magnetic slot/Phillips/Torx screwdriver set which also has a couple of micro sizes and Torx drivers.
If you’re like me and you love Wera, this 6 piece set for $27.29 is a steal. Shockingly, the most expensive set I’ve posted on here is the nostalgia-pick. This 42-piece Craftsman set is the old acetate-handled stand-by. I have a lot of these myself, but there’s no way I paid anything near $150 for them. These aren’t that good of a deal, and they probably won’t be your goto screwdrivers for tough jobs, but every time you slide open the drawer and the light hits those crystal handles, you’ll be transported back to when you were a kid. Looking at the picture, I can feel the texture of them in my hand and I can smell Liquid Wrench.
