All Suzukis come with a fairly comprehensive warranty that is enough to rival luxury brands. Below we break down the details of Suzuki’s factory warranty, including what is and is not covered. It covers any defective materials as well as issues with workmanship. This includes anything that goes wrong with your vehicle inside and out that is caused by an issue with the manufacturing process. 

If you do not take care of your Suzuki, the resulting damage will not be covered. If you modify or alter your vehicle on your own or use a third party to make changes that cause damage, it will not be covered. Issues due to accidents, natural disasters, or environmental damage are not covered.

Powertrain Coverage

Suzuki’s powertrain coverage lasts for seven years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. The powertrain warranty can be transferred between owners, boosting the resale value of your vehicle. The powertrain covers the engine, transmission/transaxle, and the drivetrain. 

This is a nice length of time because it is longer than what some manufacturers provide. Some automakers lump bumper-to-bumper and powertrain coverage together or provide just five years/60,000 miles of coverage. Suzuki, meanwhile, gives you extra protection for these critical parts of your car. 

But there are certain exclusions for the powertrain. Engine damage resulting from accidents or weather is not covered. If you decide to modify your engine with non-Suzuki parts and non-Suzuki services, those parts are not covered. 

This powertrain coverage protects everything you would expect. The length of the powertrain warranty should cover the typical amount of time it takes for manufacturing related issues to manifest. 

Additional Coverage

Suzuki offers some special perks with its warranty. It covers the battery for two years or 24,000 miles. It also covers corrosion-related issues for five years with no limit on mileage. It does not cover tires, so you will have to rely on the tire manufacturer’s warranty for that. 

Suzuki also offers a comprehensive roadside assistance package. This lasts for three years or 36,000 miles. It provides 24/7 service if you need a tire change, a jump start, lockout assistance, mechanical repairs, or towing. It also provides a rental vehicle if your Suzuki is inoperable due to manufacturing issues. Suzuki chooses the rental vehicle through an appointed rental company. 

Another benefit is that Suzuki covers on-brand accessories for one year with an unlimited mileage

cap or until the end of its three-year/36,000-mile warranty, whichever comes later. This goes beyond what other many competitors provide. 

What We Like

There is plenty to like about Suzuki’s warranty. Its powertrain coverage is quite a bit longer than the industry standard. Its roadside assistance is solid and gives you plenty of peace of mind when traveling, with benefits such as towing, roadside mechanical repairs, and rental car assistance. The coverage of the battery is not very common, and it is an excellent perk. The coverage for Suzuki accessories is also great. 

Overall, this is a solid and good warranty. It covers nearly everything as long as you maintain your vehicle properly. The exclusions are reasonable and are common within the auto industry. With this coverage, your Suzuki should last a long time, and any small repairs or replacements that are needed will be quickly taken care of at no added expense. 

What We Don’t Like

There are some drawbacks to Suzuki’s limited warranty. The bumper-to-bumper coverage is one year or about 14,000 miles less than some of its competitors. The anti-perforation coverage is also shorter in duration compared to certain manufacturers that provide six to eight years of corrosion protection. 

The tires are not covered through Suzuki, so you have to go the extra mile if there is an issue by contacting the tire manufacturer. There are a handful of exclusions but none that are truly unreasonable, and they are common across the industry. There are also some extras that Suzuki doesn’t offer, i.e. there is no travel reimbursement, so if a trip is stopped short due to a manufacturing issue, you must cover food, lodging, etc. 

Overall, however, there isn’t much to not like about Suzuki’s coverage. It could use some fine tuning, but with a brand known for its reliability, you may not need the warranty at all.
