If you’d like a factory-fresh Ford GT, but weren’t worthy enough to get past Ford’s stringent application process, all hope is not lost. Coming to auction next month is a pristine, barely used version of Ford’s Ferrari-killing supercar. Okay, so it’s not the five-minute-old, flying-buttressed, Ecoboost model the automotive world’s been salivating over for the past couple of years, but rather a 2006, second-gen version with the supercharged V8.
The car in question (#1,664 out of 2,011 total cars ever built) amazingly boasts just 60 miles on the clock and even comes with its original window sticker along with all of the delivery and production literature and documentation that came with it eleven years ago. This particular example wears the handsome Midnight Blue Clearcoat paint job (the 145th GT of only 190 to do so), white racing stripes, and the optional forged aluminum BBS wheels.
Built to celebrate Ford’s centennial and, of course, pay tribute to the famed 1960s Le Mans racer, the first 21st-century GT remake featured a 5.4-liter, fire-and-brimstone, supercharged V8 producing 550-hp and 500 lb-ft or torque. This took it to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 205 mph. Notable owners included Jeremy Clarkson himself and John Cena.
Scheduled to hit the auction block on August 18th, RM Auctions projects it to fetch anywhere from $275,000 to $350,000, pinning it about a hundred grand shy of a new model of its more modern incarnation. Frankly, we wouldn’t be surprised if it went for much more than that, considering its condition.
