Everyone has their sharp right hook of automotive excellence, and this 2004 Lincoln Town Car is the perfection of Americana incarnate. American luxury cars, when they aren't busy trying to quixotically chase their European competition, can eat up miles like Takeru Kobyashi swallows hot dogs.
This Signature Series has 471,268 miles. I would love to say that this would qualify for any transportation service but in most cities, it's too old according to Uber and Lyft flat out refuses these models along with their Panther platform siblings - the Ford Crown Victorias and Mercury Grand Marquis.
I don't think this was an Uber car. The back seats are far too nice.
I can get not wanting folks to pick up strangers in old police cars with vinyl seats and the olfactory smell of industrial grade plastics. Nobody wants to be reminded of the time they had one too many, or ten.
But this Town Car along with the Grand Marquis should be fair game. They are excellent choices for those folks that have to pile on the miles on America's interstates. Especially if they're among those unfortunate souls who have been suckered into driving a champagne car and get paid cheap beer money in return.
