Automotive

According to Elon Musk, Tesla’s “Master Plan” includes an electric minibus. Musk went on further to say the minibus will be based on the Model X platform, and should hold a gaggle of environmentally-conscious passengers. (Your humble author may have taken some poetic license with the second half of that statement.)

Genesis has announced pricing for the 2017 Genesis G80 (formerly known as the Hyundai Genesis). The 3.8-liter V6 will start at $42,350, but the G80 can quickly cruise up to $55,500 when equipped with the optional 5.0-liter option. Expect the G80 to grace showrooms come September.

And a big slow clap for Chevrolet as it becomes the first manufacturer to sell 100,000 plug-in vehicles in America. Thanks to federal and state tax incentives, customers can pick up the Chevy Volt for less than $30,000, a fact that surely helped GM move some of those units. Fun fact: according to Chevy, Volt sales have saved a whopping 58 billion gallons of gasoline.

Gear

Being without power can put a halt to productivity if you rely on laptops and smartphones to get work done. Rather than rolling the dice and hoping your battery lasts on your next trip, invest in a Kalisaya KP201 KaliPAK 192-Watt Hour Portable Solar Generator. Capable of charging up to four devices simultaneously, this solar-powered generator is perfect for keeping your mobile office alive.

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but sometimes, you really need to take a shower—for example, if you just spent six hours in a car without A/C. (I may or may not speak from experience.) Rather than keeping the stink going, grab a Simple Shower and wash away the gnarly.

Lifestyle

Today’s beer pick takes us to 350 Brewing Company in Tinley Park, Illinois. This young brewery was the brainchild of two college friends who no longer wanted anything to do with corporate America and wanted everything to do with brewing great craft beer. In keeping with the mentality of “do what makes you happy,” founders Todd and Erik have churned out some solid brews.

Sweaters are pretty cool—especially if you’re cool too. With that groundbreaking revelation in mind, you might want to check out the Fjallraven Kiruna Light Sweater. Made of a cotton/synthetic blend, the Kiruna is a great sweater for late summer or early fall. Plus, this bad boy is currently 50 percent off.
