By now, chances are you’ve seen the new Toyota GT86 Shooting Brake concept car. And since you (presumably) have eyeballs and a soul, chances are that you liked it. I, too, was briefly enamored with the GT86 wagon. But that’s only because I didn’t know about the 1983 Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit Estate. Yes, such a thing does exist, and after hearing the details, you’re totally going to want it. Good news: It’s for sale.

According to the ad, this Spirit was commissioned by a customer in England for the purposes of “motorsport support.” That explains the estate configuration, perfect for hauling spares, extra wheels, tools, fluids, and gear. It also explains the custom integrated trailer hitch assembly, which is paired with a fully adjustable Girling hydraulic self-leveling suspension system. The rear bench seat even folds down for extra storage. Pure functionality, except for the boss two-tone paint scheme. That’s just for style points.

Clearly an olive-and-ebony Rolls-Royce station wagon tow rig isn’t bizarre enough, so the previous owner did some unique engine work, too. Like other, lesser Silver Spirits, this one's got Rolls' venerated 6.75-liter V8 under the hood. Here, though it’s been converted to run on liquefied petroleum gas. Lord only knows why. But the setup, in tandem with a GM-sourced three-speed auto gearbox, seems to be durable enough: The previous owner logged more than 75,000 miles. Because he, or she, is a goddamn hero.

The car’s in Berlin, but the seller, Auctionata, does absentee bidding online. So anybody stateside can snag this majestic creature, and probably for less than its $20,000 pre-sale estimate. Don’t you want to be that guy who tows stuff with a 1980s Rolls-Royce station wagon? Of course you do. Follow this link for eternal glory.
