The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has become a tradition, whether you attend the event in New York or watch it from your living room. More than 50 million viewers across the country tune in every year to the televised event, while more than 3.5 million spectators show up in person. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has become a national icon for the holiday that brings families together and generosity out from within.

Until recently, GMC has been the only manufacturer to provide pickup trucks to tow the floats for the annual parade. Now, Ram acts as the sole provider of pickups and has been deemed the Official Truck of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for three years in a row. Last year, the parade utilized 70 Ram trucks, ranging from light duty 1500 models, to heavy duty 2500 and 3500 pickups. Ram also provided utility vans to serve behind the scenes and other transportation needs. The best part of Ram’s truck lineup is that there is something for everyone, no matter what their needs may be. From light hauls to heavy-duty loads, Ram has a truck that can step up to the plate and take on the challenge.

This year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade includes 26 floats, all towed by either 1500s, 2500s or 3500 trucks, yet again. Each float is a masterpiece of art and engineering, designed by the incredible artists of Macy’s Parade Studio. This includes carpenters, metal fabricators, scenic designers, electricians, animators, and painters. The Ram trucks lead the parade, towing floats of about three stories tall and several lanes wide. The holiday floats arrive from the New Jersey home of the Parade Studio via the Lincoln Tunnel.

The pickup trucks bring the floats to New York City the night before. There are nearly 70 trucks and commercial vans in total, many of which are used for behind-the-scenes functions leading up to the start of the parade. Ram’s trucks not only help transport the incredibly large floats down the Parade route but also move other materials like tool containers and costumes before the procession.

According to Mike Manley, Head of Ram Brand, FCA-Global, “Ram continues to take great pride in aligning our brand with an iconic American event like the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Being the official truck of the parade provides an excellent opportunity to showcase the towing capability, style and innovation.”

The parade broadcasts live on NBC beginning at 9 a.m. in all time zones. So tune in with all your friends and family, and share in the tradition. There will be classic favorites and new additions too, something for everyone to enjoy.
