One Lap of Rennsport in the 2017 Porsche 911 Carrera
A Porsche extravaganza, on-board with Le Mans winner Hurley Haywood, at Laguna Seca.
We warned you about Rennsport Reunion. We told you it’d be the most gratuitous, and glorious, gathering of Porsche sheet metal on this continent. And, man, did Rennsport deliver.
Spyders, Turbos, Boxsters, all present. So was the 2017 Porsche 911 Carrera, a longtime bastion of all-motor womp, which goes on sale next year with a 3.0-liter turbocharged six. For many purists, the downfall of the naturally-aspirated Carrera is a sign of the End Times.
We weren’t so sure, so we rigged some GoPros up to that new 911. Then we put three-time Le Mans winner and wonted badass Hurley Haywood inside, and asked him to do some hoofin’ around Laguna Seca. He obliged.
So here it is, the first footage of a 2017 Porsche Carrera on-track, plus highlights of all the other priceless kit in attendance, a changing of the guard, of sorts. Judge for yourself.
