Check Out These Bentley Prototypes Caught Lapping the Nurburgring

Both convertible and coupe versions of a new Bentley two-door were spied on the Nordschleife.

We’ll be honest here: When we heard that there was new video of Bentley prototypes lapping the Nurburgring online, we were kind of hoping the prototypes in question would be hauling a fair amount of ass. If the German-owned British automaker is truly looking to launch a new car that can compete with the like of the beloved, established Porsche 911, then Bentley needs to bring its testing A-game.

On the bright side, that more…relaxed pace gives us a better chance to see this baby Bentley’s sexy lines. What we see here appears to be a test mule of the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept that was shown off at the Geneva Motor Show in 2015. What we’ve learned since then is that if this car reaches production, it will take the Bentley Barnato name, it will have two seats, and it will be right next to the Continental GT in Bentley’s model range, according to Auto Express. (That said, it is possible the cars in this video are the new Continental GT, or even some other car we don’t even know about.)

In this video, captured by ‘Ring nerd Dale Lomas for Bridge To Gantry, we see two different Bentley prototypes cutting laps around the 12.9-mile Nordschleife. One is a coupe, and one is a convertible. What we don’t hear much of is tire squeal, which means that cars are probably just barely being pushed around the track. That isn’t too strange, since it’s possible the cars were just taken out for general data collecting purposes by engineers.

That said…we wouldn’t mind watching these test coupes get thrown from rumble strip to rumble strip and thrashed around the Green Hell. What do you say, Bentley—how ’bout throwing us a bone and running a couple hot laps?
