In case you missed it, Mercedes is coming out with a new generation of its compact crossover this year. When the redesigned 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class hits U.S. dealerships this spring, it will start at $48,250 after destination.
For comparison, a 2023 BMW X3 sDrive30i starts at $46,395 (xDrive adds $2,000) while the Quattro-AWD-as-standard 2023 Audi Q5 40 TFSI starts at $45,395, making the GLC the most expensive of the bunch. This price also represents a notable bump from last year’s model, which started at $44,900.
That new $48,250 price buys a base, rear-drive GLC300, while those who demand 4Matic all-wheel drive are looking at a base price of $50,250. There are two higher trims to choose from that add more equipment: Exclusive and Pinnacle. The most expensive GLC300, the Pinnacle 4Matic, starts at $54,600.
Pinnacle-exclusive features include augmented video nav, a head-up display, digital lights with projections, heat and noise-insulating glass, and everything that comes with the mid-tier Exclusive trim. That trim, by the way, consists of Burmester 3D audio, regular nav without augmented video, a 360-degree camera system with a nifty “Transparent Hood” view, enhanced ambient lighting, lit-up door sills, and MB’s Guard 360 security system.
An optional AMG Line appearance package adds body-colored fenders for the first time on GLC as well as a star-pattern front grille.
Standard on all GLCs is an 11.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 12.3-inch instrument screen behind the steering wheel, heated, 16-way power front seats with memory, rain-sensing wipers, wireless charging, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The GLC300 is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo-four making 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque coupled to a 48-volt mild hybrid system that’s able to provide an additional 23 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque.
