Anyone who has spent time on a race track will tell you, driving is a physical sport. F1 drivers are some of the most fit athletes in the world, often competing in cycling, triathlons, and distance running in the off-season, just for fun. Why not take some inspiration from these guys while trying to hit your New Year’s resolution goals by relying on the same tech? Not only can it make it easier and more fun, but with these deals on fitness gear, you can save some money doing it too.

I’ve been using a Garmin watch for several months and it has transformed my fitness training. I wear it on and off along with my Apple Watch Ultra 2. The Apple might be a better all-around smartwatch if you’re serious about training. However, I think the Garmin is the better choice. I have a Garmin – fēnix 7X Sapphire Solar GPS Smartwatch for $527.99 with Plus like this. It does everything well, including controlling my smart trainer for my bike. Garmin also has free coaching plans that don’t require a monthly subscription fee; which is a huge advantage over Apple. If you want to start at a little lower price point, the Garmin – Instinct 2 45mm Smartwatch for $202.99 will do a lot of what the more expensive watches will do.

I’m not much of a believer in using a scale to track fitness. At least not those that just track weight. This Garmin USA – Index S2 Smart Scale for $129.99 with Plus will also give you estimates on body composition and water percentage and will keep long-term statistics so you can monitor trends. It uses WiFi to connect to your Garmin Connect app. So everything is available in one place.

It’s no secret that the F1 grid is made up of avid cyclists. I mean, Valtteri Bottas probably spent more time on a bike saddle than he did in his car last year. I’ve been cycling on and off for decades. It’s one of the few sports that I can say I genuinely enjoy doing. This Trek Checkpoint ALR 5 for $1,699.93 is a good starter bike if you’re new to cycling. Since it’s winter, I also included a Garmin indoor trainer. Some of us live where it’s entirely too cold to be outside riding right now. I’ve also included a piece of equipment to help you train for the massive G forces you’ll experience once back in a car, as well as some supplements. Happy training.
