BMW has built up excitement to the release of the 2018 5-Series for months. They've created a video series on the model's history and teased us with snippets that we'll be seeing once the refresh hits. We know that most of the differences will lie underneath as powertrain options will be pumped up and technology will ooze from every interface, but what about the outside?

You'll be able to differentiate the 7th generation when you see it. It's subtle details are enough to make it clear while staying true to the lines of previous years. It retains its luxurious road presence, a must for the segment, while keeping up with the stylish times. The newest iteration reveals a swept-back profile with a unique front fascia, featuring new LED headlights that are connected to the signature kidney grills.

The interior will be a high point for the 2018 model year. The center infotainment display is "freestanding", separating itself from that of the 6th generation. BMW's newest iDrive system will be used here, giving you the option to customize the menus and features. Comfort features should rank towards the top of the class with more being introduced as the generation advances. Expect to see more autonomous capabilities in the 5-Series during this era.

This quick clip from the manufacturer gives comparisons between the 2017 and 2018 5-Series. Side by side, it's quite a bit easier to tell the differences between the two. Overall, it looks to be a logical advancement for one of BMW's best sellers.
