How Mega Is the Megaship Docked at Port of L.A.?
The CMA CGM Benjamin Franklin, measured in Hellcats and Huracáns.
This weekend, the Port of Los Angeles welcomed the CMA CGM Benjamin Franklin. It’s the largest container ship to ever dock in North America, an 18,000-TEU leviathan that begs for comparative hyperbole. CMA-CGM has happily obliged. According to French shipping company’s website, the Benjamin Franklin’s maximum load capacity represents the volume of 235 Olympic pools. She’s longer than the Empire State Building is tall, and wider than a football field. Which is freakin’ insane.
Still having trouble wrapping your head around just how mega the Benjamin Franklin is? Check out the nifty graphic guide below.
