Porsche Canada Commissions Gorgeous Vintage-Inspired Posters
The “Vintage Meets Modern” series is the work of famed artist Guy Allen, and are available for download right now.
If you have not heard of Guy Allen or seen his work, drop whatever you're doing and head to his art site right now. He is the cartoonist behind those one-panel pieces you see in the English buff books, and he's been contracted by various OEMs to create illustrations for them. What we're trying to say is, he's a talented fellow, and his work for Porsche Cars Canada here is continued proof of that. The work that he does for his own edification tends to focus on vintage cars and races long gone by. There is a wide variety of featured cars in his work, but it seems he always comes back to Porsche.
This new series of four posters brings together his love of Porsche with his love of vintage design elements, crafting a set of images that evoke the kinds of posters that would have hung in a Porsche dealership in the 1960s, but using modern cars as the focal points of each poster. There is a poster for the new GT3, the now-famous 918, the recently-launched 911 GTS lineup, and a shared design for 718 Boxster and Cayman. It's a very cool set, and you can download them as smartphone background wallpapers, free of charge, on Porsche Canada's website right now. And it's not just for our neighbors to the north, free downloads for all.
Which of these four is your personal favorite? We really like the dynamism of the 918 poster, but the angularity of the 718 Boxster and Cayman poster is equally great, and the colors are phenomenal. This is a really well-done campaign by Mr. Allen, and we hope Porsche continues to work with him to produce marketing collateral. It's just phenomenal.
