I don’t speed—at a rate that would get me pulled over—all that often. Normally, it’s accidental. I also don’t have that many close calls with traffic collisions either. But, I’m also realistic, and I know these things happen. Thanks to this job, I almost always have a dash cam in my car, and recently I’ve had a radar detector. Neither change my driving habits, but both make me feel more at ease knowing they’re there. That would be a great gift for one of the drivers on your list this year. It just so happens that Best Buy’s offering savings on radar detectors ahead of the holidays.

Escort – MAX 360c MKII Radar and Laser Detector for $599.99

The Escort MAX 360c MKII radar detector, which recently received a $100 price drop, is a great choice in mid-tier radar detectors. Historically, Escorts aren’t as reactive as competitors, but they’re also better at signal filtering and won’t false alert as much. This uses Escort’s latest Blackfin architecture so it has greater range and sensitivity than its predecessor. If you’re looking for an even cheaper option, the Escort MAX 360 MKII is marked down to $515.99.

I recently posted a full hands-on review of the Escort MAX 4 radar detector, and my takeaway is that it’s a great radar detector for someone who is either a new user or users who want something they can stick in their car with minimal setup and that isn’t constantly screeching at them. It’s currently on sale for $369.99.
