The full reveal of the next Fiesta is planned for later today, but Ford released this picture to keep us entertained for the time being.
Auto Express reported that the sub-compact will ride on Ford’s Global B platform, continuing on with the current tradition. Expect the exterior to have some small refinements, including the sleek headlights and streamlined body accents. The major change, however, is on the interior. The cabin is expected to gain a bit of class, making for a higher quality feel and look. This will only help the Fiesta’s case against its competitors as it already was a top contender in that category. These distinctions should help the Fiesta’s evolution towards becoming a strong global competitor.
The powertrain options are set to be the same for the next generation, but with more empahsis on the 1.0L Ecoboost engine. This quirky inline-3 cylinder has been snagging awards left and right, so it would be reasonable to anticipate a larger presence in the Fiesta family. This well help the average fuel economy across the board, helping to market its affordability — as if it needed any help with that. The photo shown above is of the ST model, so we will continue to see its grinning face for at least one more rendition. It would be nice to see a bump in power from its current 196 HP and 202 lb. ft. of torque, a feat that is certainly possible as the aftermarket for the small 1.6L Ecoboost has proven.
Come back for updates once the official Euro-spec model is released at the “Go Further” event in Cologne, Germany.
