Drive Wire for October 10, 2016: Google Outfits First Self-Driving Chrysler Pacifica Minivan Prototypes

Today on Drive Wire, the first Chrysler Pacifica hybrid minivans have arrived at Google’s Mountain View facility in California this week, ready to be fitted with self-driving apparatus. The tech giant has partnered with Fiat-Chrysler in a bid to expand their autonomous driving programs. Currently, they have 24 Lexus Rx450H SUVs and 34 proprietary prototypes on the road in cities including Mountain View, Kirkland, Austin and Phoenix. FCA has agreed to add 100 minivans to the squad, and an eager Google wasted no time in rigging the first six vehicles with sensors. For more, watch the video above.
