Not to be confused with the “Ducati World: Racing Challenge” 2001 video game for the PlayStation and Dreamcast, a new theme park called Ducati World is coming to Italy expected to open to the public in 2019.
As its name suggests, the park will be Ducati themed to showcase the Italian motorcycle company’s products. It will be a 35,000 square mile chunk of the Mirabilandia amusement park located on Italy’s northeast coast. Attractions will include a roller coaster that imitates riding a Ducati, simulations, virtual reality, and attractions for kids.
“Ducati World will give visitors a chance to live an exciting journey inside the Ducati brand,” stated Alessandro Cicognani, Ducati Licensing and Corporate Partnership Director in a press release. “Thanks to this agreement, together with [park operator] Parques Reunidos we’re developing the first motorcycle themed area in an Italian amusement park. Mirabilandia’s location, at the heart of the Motor Valley, adds further value to this project dedicated to fun.”
Ducati could have settled for just slapping its name on a red roller coaster, but this park is more than just a gimmick. Ducati World will include a showroom filled with iconic Ducati motorcycles throughout history. You’ll also be able to find Ducati themed restaurants and, of course, a shop where you can buy all of the Ducati merch your heart desires.
Ducati World is sure to appeal to both local theme park-goers and global motorcycle enthusiasts alike. It’s expected to open to the public in 2019 which should give you plenty of time to plan your trip to Italy to check it out.
