It seems the #DeleteUber movement is more than just a hashtag. The day after an outcry erupted on social media over Uber's actions in the wake of President Donald Trump's travel ban, the company's arch-competitor Lyft rocketed to the top of the charts amongst Apple iPhone users.

According to a report from The Verge citing analytics firm App Annie, the sudden rise in popularity marks the first time Lyft has surpassed Uber in the U.S. An App Annie spokesperson reportedly said the Lyft app was being downloaded at double the volume of two weeks before.

TechCrunch reports that Lyft had been at #39 on the App Store's free list at the beginning of the weekend; downloads began rising that day, then plateaued into Sunday before rocketing upwards again. As of this article's publication, Lyft was number 6 on Apple's iOS Free Apps chart, while Uber was number 13.

It was a different story on Google Play, the app store for Android phones. As of 5:30pm EST Monday, Uber was still ahead of its nemesis, ranking #22 to to Lyft's #65.

Lyft was quick to jump into the fray and take a stand against Trump's controversial policy after the #DeleteUber movement began gathering steam this weekend; on Sunday, the company pledged to give $1 million to the ACLU over the next four years
