Last week at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, I was able to talk to people at a couple of different RC companies and thank them for getting me to where I am today. Team Associated was at the show with a full-size replica of the company’s iconic RC-10, 1:10 scale, two-wheel drive racing buggy. It also had a lineup of re-releases of kits that pull at the heartstrings of car enthusiasts like me. None of those limited edition kits are on sale. That’s because people like me are suckers and will pay full price without batting an eye. But, there are plenty of other deals for car hobbyists on cars that are just as good.
If you’re looking to get rolling and want a smaller scale than the traditional 1:10 cars, you can start with something like this Losi JRX2 in 1:16 scale for a fraction of the price, $99.99, but with all of the fun. There are loads of indoor carpet tracks around the country made for small-scale cars. If you are looking to get into 1:10 scale racing and want a modern Team Associated car, the RB10 2WD Buggy, for $289.99 includes everything but a battery pack and charger to get you going. It comes with a full bearing kit, a metal geared servo, and aluminum shocks right out of the box.
I couldn’t help but include the Lego Technics Peugeot 9X8 Hypercar. It’s on sale right now for $159.99 and it is a big, impressive kit with tons of technical details. I also had to include a 3D printer in the mix from Anycubic. This is a great beginner to intermediate printer that can be expanded when you’re ready. AND lastly, I included the Team Associated RC10 Classic kit, even though it isn’t on sale.
