Hey there, Will Sabel Courtney here for Drive Wire on The Drive. Subaru has revealed a new special edition of its WRX sports sedan only available in Japan that comes packed with cool features—and one not-so-cool one. The Subaru WRX S4 tS, as it’s called, is based on the regular WRX, not the more powerful WRX STI. It comes equipped with Brembo brakes, an adjustable front suspension, and an active torque vectoring system. It’s also quicker than the regular WRX, thanks to a better intake and exhaust setup. It packs a cool new front splitter and 19-inch BBS wheel, as well as Recaro sport seats lifted from the STI model. In spite of all these cool features, the WRX S4 tS is handicapped by one major flaw: It only comes with a continuously variable automatic transmission. We have no idea why. Check out The Drive for more on the big stories from the transportation world.
