The New York Auto Show is well under way and Mazda has already taken center stage with its retractable fastback, the stunning MX-5 Miata RF. We were expecting a Miata coupe – what we got from Mazda is at least as good. The roof panel now pops out and stashes in the trunk at speeds of up to seven mph, giving you what’s basically a Targa-top Miata. Numbers on the RF aren’t officially out, but our educated guess is the top mechanism adds about a 170 pounds to the chassis and a couple thousand dollars to the price. The RF model will also be available with other goodies exclusive to the Targa, such as Napa leather in the interior. Dealers will be shutting up and taking your money on what may be the best-looking Miata of all time later this year.

Jeep unveiled the 2017 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk Tuesday, with the Trailhawk name as always signifying greater off-road capability. Trim level is somewhere between the Laredo and Limited, so it’s fairly premium, but the big news is the hardware – the Trailhawk will have a Quadra-Drive-2 transfer case, an electronic rear limited-slip differential, and a Cherokee-specific version of Jeep’s Quadra-lift air suspension.  Add to this the standard skid plates, Kevlar-lined Goodyear adventurer tires and it’s one capable machine. It’ll be in dealerships just in time for your summer adventure.

Spy shots are always exciting but when they are of an M5, you drop everything and gawk. These are especially swirly spy shots, but we like what we can see of the beefed-up sedan. We’re expecting this M5 to run a 4.4 liter twin turbo V8 making about 600 horsepower when it arrives next year, likely as a 2018 model. More details, and hopefully less swirly-ness, in the coming months.

Turning to gear, we have the Raptor System from Everysight. It’s a visor-mounted heads-up display that puts training and performance data in your face. Literally. Thanks to a system that beams everything you need to know inside your sunglasses, there’s no need to look away from the road for information. If that weren’t enough, you’re able to take video with the built-in camera, all controlled with a swipe at your temple. The Eyesight Raptor will be available later this year.

In today’s ridiculous video, we have cliff divers Orlando Duque and Jonathan Paredes jumping down South Africa's Victoria Falls – one of the largest and most beautiful waterfalls in the world. We don’t have to tell you not to try this at home, because getting a 350-foot waterfall into your home would be very dangerous, so best leave it to these maniacs.
