1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spyder – $8,950,000 (Astoria)

byDavid Traver Adolphus|

I thought I had this car sold to a buddy, but he couldn’t come up with the money. I have had many people interested in my 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spyder, so please don’t waste my time. I have plenty of other projects and I don’t need to sell it, but I could use the space in my garage. If it doesn’t sell I’ll kick something out and put it back in for the winter. If you see this ad, then it’s still for sale, so don’t ask. If you want to ship it, fine, but I won’t.

If you’ve got this far then you know that this isn’t your ordinary Ferrari 250 GT Spyder. It is NOT a Pininfarina Cabriolet—this is the Scaglietti-bodied CAL SPYDER, #1425GT. If you don’t know what that means then don’t bother, this is not the car for you. This is a SPECIAL CAR for SPECIAL PEOPLE. Body and paint are solid, interior useable, good running 240hp 3.0-liter V12, good driving condition.

Originally white with exposed headlamps, converted to red with covered headlamps by Tom Meade. Frame bent and windshield broken in shipping, repaired in Italy.

Runs and drives. Original interior, original drivetrain. Four private owners since new. Only 33,000 miles. Two spare wheels and tires. Engine rebuilt in 2005.

Needs paint, interior leather cracking. I just throw a blanket over the seats, no one notices. Smoking again, might need engine rebuild. Maybe some rust in the lower doors and rockers, a good bodyshop can take care of that easy. Might want to do the chrome too.

This has been a great daily driver and I really don’t want to let it go. I’ve tried to be honest in my description, it’s not perfect but it is a really solid car that you can drive as-is. It does need some cosmetic work. I’m available evenings but I don’t want to allow test drives without a deposit, sorry. I’ve kept all the paperwork, so you get a stack almost a foot high.

I’ve had a TON of calls but no one’s been serious, first one here with the cash takes it, otherwise I’m putting it away or parting it out.

$8,950,000. NO LOWBALLERS. Will consider trade for 4,475 Mitsubishi Eclipse turbos.
