I wouldn’t call myself a detailing enthusiast. But I do like all the tools and car washing products that go along with it. I’m sure many of you are in the same boat. Also like me, I’m sure you’re excited about the summertime detailing deals celebrating the start of the season. In fact, that’s exactly why you’re here.
Having a pressure washer isn’t a must for great results, but it sure is nice to have. That’s especially so if you want to use a foam cannon. Like most tools, there’s a huge variety of pressure washers out there. I’ve included a variety of sizes and pressure levels. Don’t worry. I stayed away from the big guns that can literally blast paint and trim pieces off your car. I’ve also included detailing chemicals and kits that are great starting points for beginners or will restock the cabinets of experienced detailers.
Among my favorite deals is the Craftsman 1800-PSI 1.2-gallon cold water electric pressure washer for $99.00 at Lowe’s. It’s great if you’re looking for something that is easy to store and works well for washing cars and bikes. It won’t strip the chrome off your bumper, but it’ll run a foam cannon or get mud off the bottom of your Jeep. If you want something even more portable, the Kobalt 600-PSI cold water power cleaner for $149 with battery and charger, is perfect to take with you when you’re camping or boating and also works great in the driveway.
If you’re like me and every weekend you’re out in the dirt, your interior probably looks like it. Chemical Guys can help with The Quick & Easy interior restoration kit for $49.99 which includes everything you need including a brush and microfiber towels. If you want to tackle those scratches, check out the Beginner Torq X orbit polisher Deluxe kit for $279.99. This kit includes everything including a bag to carry it all in. If you aren’t ready to take a spinning, paint cutting device to your entire car, and believe I can respect that apprehension, maybe you want to start by just getting that cloudy oxidation off your headlight lenses. I’ve done in the past and it is extremely satisfying to take a yellow-frosted lens back to a gleaming brilliance. Meguiar’s two-step headlight restoration kit for $17.84 will do that in just a couple of hours. And with the spray-on clear coat, the results will last years, rather than months.
