On today’s installment of Drive Wire, The Drive discusses the news that Delphi Automotive will unleash a fleet of self-driving cars on the streets of Singapore—including a host of autonomous taxis that can be summoned on demand. One of the world’s largest automotive suppliers, Delphi has toyed with self-driving cars before; last year, the company’s self-driving Audi Q5 drove itself from San Francisco to New York. But this latest pilot program aims to take things a step further, with the ultimate goal of letting users call up a completely autonomous vehicle and have it ferry them to their destination.
