Tesla Model X Price Drops $3,000
Performance-trim Model S and Xes also get options made standard.

When Elon Musk first announced the Tesla Model X, he set a target price of approximately $5,000 more than a comparably-equipped Model S. That goal was never really achieved until today.
Spotted by Electrek, Tesla has made some changes to its online car configurator overnight. Chief among those, the base Model X 75D now starts at $79,500—three grand down from its previous $82,500 sticker and exactly five thousand bucks more than the Model S 75D's $74,500 price. All dual-motor Model S Teslas also receive a $1,500 slash.
"When we launched Model X 75D, it had a low gross margin. As we’ve achieved efficiencies, we are able to lower the price and pass along more value to our customers," Tesla said in a statement, according to Electrek.
Musk stated in a Model 3 press briefing last week that the company is now producing as many Model X crossovers as they are Model S sedans at the company's Fremont plant—around 1,000 each per week, to be specific.
In addition to the base price drops, changes have also been made to the highest end of Tesla's model spectrum. Tesla is now throwing in the "Premium Package" (previously a $5,000 option) as standard equipment for customers that opt for the P100D Performance models of either the Model S or X in addition to the reduced starting prices, resulting in a net price reduction of $6,500 for a new Model S P100D.
Premium Package features now present on every P100D Tesla include the Bioweapon Defense Mode-enabled HEPA air filter system, XM satellite radio, a custom audio system, a heated steering wheel, wiper blade defrosters, and washer nozzle heaters.
