Today on Drive Wire for November 14th, 2016, BMW tries to improve their sales of electric vehicles by two thirds. According BMW CEO Harald Krueger, BMW intends to sell 60,000 electric and hybrid vehicles this year but they strive to sell 100,000 EVs next year.

Although the demand for electric and hybrid vehicles is not where the Munich-based auto manufacturer wants them to be, BMW is hoping a 50 percent improvement in the i3s range will further boost sales.

At the moment, BMW is selling three hybrid and two electric vehicles in the US, however, the European market has a broader range and could be responsible for a larger portion of the sales.

A 100,000 vehicle annual sales goal may seem a bit lofty as BMW has sold around that number since 2013, but I guess we will have to wait and see what future demands dictate.

That’s it for Drive Wire on November 14th, 2016. I’m Max Goldberg; thanks for watching, and please check out The Drive for more on the big stories from the transportation world.
