Star Wars Legend Harrison Ford, Our Kind of Wheelman
Some actors just have better vehicular co-stars than others.
It’s hard to say, “I don’t like Harrison Ford,” with a straight face. Why? Because it’s a damn lie, that’s why. The movie legend’s reputation is so vault-tight that Steven Spielberg recently said, “I don’t think anyone could replace Harrison as Indy,” and we couldn’t agree more. The actor has a knack for making franchises impossible to recast.
Ford has also driven some notable cars over his 50-year career. And though not all actors get to choose their vehicular co-stars, Harrison has rarely put a foot, or wheel, wrong. Take a look at our favorite Ford-driven cars, trucks and, yes, military motos.
Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade – Dnepr MT-11
Because what else would a totally badass professor drive on his quest for the Holy Grail? This military-green sidecar motorcycle came packing a little punch thanks to a 650cc motor coupled with a four-speed transmission.
The Fugitive – Ford Econoline 350 Ambulance
When you are on the lam, an ambulance provides good cover. However, this early Nineties meat wagon came packing a punch with a 7.3-liter Navistar diesel that cranked out 190 horsepower and a healthy 388 lb-ft of torque. In addition, the “bus” had lights and sirens, which automatically makes it boss.
The Mosquito Coast – 1963 Ford F-Series Flatbed
Before moving his family to La Mosquitia, Honduras, Harrison Ford rode around in a classic old F-Series in Massachusetts. Although these workhorses didn’t pack much power (well under 200 hp), they sure were pretty to look at, and the truck fit Ford’s cantankerous Allie Fox character to a T.
American Graffiti -1955 Chevy 150
This musclebound Chevy is definitely one of the more iconic cars in Harrison Ford’s portfolio, and with a 454 big block under the hood, the attention is duly merited. With somewhere around 450 hp and zero traction control, its tires could be spun for days—or in the direction of a culvert.
Off the Set – 1955 Jaguar XK140
When Ford steps away from the camera, he doesn’t let his car game falter. Rather than hopping right into some limo, Ford opts to drive a British Army Green Jag through the streets of LA.
