AMG GLC63 Pushes the Limits of SUV Performance

The 510 hp AMG GLC63 S goes zero to 62 mph in 3.8 seconds and still has plenty of room for the kids

This performance SUV thing is starting to get ridiculous. Ridiculous in the most awesome way possible. We’re all on the edge of our seats waiting for the unveiling of Lamborghini’s new Urus. But the stampeding bull isn’t the only eye-popping performance SUV waiting to be revved up.

The mad scientists at AMG have been cranking out limit-pushing SUVs since the debut of the ML55 in 1999. The latest offering from the legendary tuning and design team is the Mercedes AMG GLC63 line. It marks the first time a mid-size Mercedes SUV is available with the powerful twin-turbo V-8 in two different output variants. Enthusiasts can choose from the GLC and GLC Coupe with the 476 horsepower version or the GLC S and GLC S Coupe with the 510 hp V-8. Both versions of the GLC S accelerate from zero to 62 mph in 3.8 seconds.

Each of the four models features an air spring suspension with adaptive adjustable dampening, AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive with fully variable torque distribution, a limited-slip rear differential, and a high-performance braking system. The new models also borrow the AMG Panamericana grille from the AMG GT family. That makes for a very aggressive looking SUV with enough power to spank most anything pulling up to the red light alongside you. All while comfortably seating the whole family along with enough luggage for the holiday trek to the in-laws.
