Sometimes you just gotta let your hybrid hypercar run.

Life behind the wheel of a hypercar must be a constant exercise in frustration. Even the world's greatest tracks and roads only offer limited opportunities to fully open the taps when you're driving a sports car making close to 1,000 horsepower. As a result, owners of such supercars are often forced to spend even more money to participate in closed-road events such as the Sun Valley Road Rally or the Silver State Classic. Which means these events can produce some highly entertaining video.

Doubt us? Well, we present Exhibit A: A recently-uploaded YouTube video shows one driver pushing his Ferrari LaFerrari hard during a pre-event for Australia's Targa Tasmania, a closed-road cross-country tarmac rally that gives owners of sports cars past and present a chance to let 'er rip on public roads.

What's unusual about the video, though, is less what the driver is doing with his hybrid hypercar...and more where he's doing it. As far as we can tell from the video, the route seems to wind through a series of closed-off streets in a suburban subdivision. Which means this Ferrari is blitzing along at highway speeds on roads that are, in some cases, less than a car length or two from houses and parked vehicles. Seems like kind of a dumb idea to us...but considering the catalog of dangers Australians have to deal with as a matter of residency, dying by LaFerrari probably seems like a pretty good way to go.
