# Lamborghini Huracan Can’t Hope to Run With Custom 860-HP Nissan GT-R

There's an old saying in the automotive realm: *There's no replacement for displacement.* But as anyone who's glanced at the lineups of [AMG](<https://www.thedrive.com/new-cars/8848/2018-mercedes-amg-gt-c-roadster-7-first-impressions>), [Porsche](<https://www.thedrive.com/news/10167/this-irish-green-porsche-911-is-the-one-millionth-911-ever-made>), [Ford](<https://www.thedrive.com/new-cars/9804/the-7-cool-things-about-the-450000-ford-gt>), or any one of innumerable automakers these days can tell you, that old saw just doesn't hold true anymore. Modern-day technology allows turbocharged and supercharged engines to surpass their naturally-aspirated predecessors' outputs with ease—and minimal sacrifice.

Granted, purists may snub their noses at these forced-induction engines for their sledgehammer power delivery and lack of aural character, but it's hard to argue with the energy these motors crank out. A horsepower is a horsepower and a pound-foot is a pound-foot, and physics doesn't give a damn whether it comes from a screaming naturally-aspirated monster of a motor or from a compact twin-turbo unit.

So as much as we love the howling cry of [the Lamborghini Huracan's 5.2-liter V-10](<https://www.thedrive.com/supercars/5740/2016-lamborghini-huracan-lp610-4-spyder-group-discussion>)...we're in no way shocked to see that a [tuned Nissan GT-R](<https://www.thedrive.com/article/8470/watch-the-ams-alpha-g-nissan-gt-r-set-the-worlds-first-awd-6-second-quarter-mile-at-tx2k17>) was able to beat it in a rolling race.

The GT-R's quoted output of 863 horsepower puts it roughly 250 ponies north of the Huracan's 10-pot—enough power to give it an easy lead in almost any race—especially since both the GT-R and the Huracan can maximize traction at launch thanks to their all-wheel-drive systems.

But it's still pretty fun to watch.
