This Guy Has Every Vintage Ford Racecar You Want
From Shelby Cobra to Boss 302 Mustang to Mk 1 GT40. So. Much. Want.
In the arms race that was motorsport the 1960s, Ford’s weapons cache was as deep as any in the world. Mustang. GT40. Carroll Shelby, and all the talents he employed, from Pete Brock to Dan Gurney. The Blue Oval took down everybody, everywhere, at Le Mans and across Europe, then stateside in SCCA solo and FIA endurance races at Sebring and Daytona. Six decades later, Jim Click’s garage doesn’t look like a classic Ford collection so much as a vintage arsenal. Now, he’s putting it all up for sale.
Highlights? Well, two legit Shelby Cobras to start, one of which is chassis CSX 2473, the winningest Cobra of all time. That car’s got more than 30 SCCA-sanctioned National, Regional and Hillclimb victories under its belt. Then there are the Mustangs. Three, in total, including a 1966 GT350 that counts an SCCA B-Production regional championship to its credit. Also, a pair of Boss 302 Trans Am racecars, a ‘69 and a ‘70, the latter driven by A.J. Foyt. But the crown jewel is a 1966 Ford GT40, chassis P/1061, one of just 31 Mk 1 cars built by Ford, and one of seven the company kept promotional use. It’ll fetch a cool $4 million. Easily.
