If you have a new Audi A4 or A5 on order, you might want to make some phone calls. Audi experienced a supply chain disruption at their Ingolstadt plant this week as a result of a supplier fire, Reuters reports. Production of the A4 and A5 has been halted since Monday and is scheduled to continue this Friday. The supplier in question was only described as makers of "front wall cladding." Audi also makes A4 and A5 models in its Neckarsulm plant, which was reportedly unaffected by the fire.

Ingolstadt, however, while doubling as Audi headquarters, is the automaker's largest plant and produces 1,400 A4 and A5s per day and employs a total of 43,000 people. As a result of the fire, 5,600 cars will be delayed and around 8,500 employees have been affected.

Those waiting patiently for their shiny new luxury compact may have to wait a little longer.

Are you a prospective A4/A5 owner who has been affected? Do you know what front wall cladding is? If you answered yes to either of those questions, let us know about it in the comments below.
