For the second year in a row at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Nissan is doubling down on its marketing efforts with one of the world greatest movie franchises ever made. Star Wars

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will hit theaters Dec. 15, and Nissan hopes that you might consider joining up with the Alliance and succumbing to the dark side by purchasing one of these intergalactic vehicles.

In reality, Nissan is using this partnership to discuss the future technologies that are coming to Nissan’s line-up of vehicles. Technology that will keep you safe whether your commute is on the highway, urban center, frozen Planet of Hoth or the arid desert planet of Tatooine.

The big new safety feature is ProPILOT Assist on select models. With ProPILOT Assist activated, the system utilizes a number of camera and sensors that can vary the vehicle’s speed (a form of adaptive cruise control) and keep the vehicle in a designated lane semi-autonomously.

Other tech features on many Nissan models include Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Warning, and Intelligent Around View Monitor all work.

We’ll give it up to the Nissan design team in California who partnered with Industrial Light & Magic and Vehicle Designs to create a handful of Star Wars-inspired vehicles that will be making their rounds around the country beginning at the LA Auto Show and the Detroit Auto Show in January 2018.

All of these custom one-off vehicles are merely for show and none of them can be purchased or operated on public roads. But that won't stop every fanboy and fangirl from drooling over them. I am not a die hard

Star Wars fan but I would roll around town in the Nissan Titan above in a heartbeat.

The LA Auto Show is open to the public Dec. 1-10. For Tickets and more information visit https://laautoshow.com/
