Fiat Chrysler sales declined 4 percent in November, with the automaker cutting deliveries to fleet customers.

Friday, FCA said it posted November sales of 154,919 units, a 4 percent decrease compared with November 2016, when it tallied sales of 160,827 units.

The manufacturer has reported drops in U.S. sales for 15 straight months as it's reduced shipments to rental-car companies.

The company's statement said its current numbers are in line with its "strategy to reduce sales to the daily rental segment," with November fleet sales of 25,380 units down 25 percent year over year.

The largest planned volume reduction in November fleet sales came from the Jeep brand, which reduced its fleet sales number by 75 percent year over year, the company said. Fleet sales represented 16 percent of total FCA U.S. November sales.

Of its four major brands, just Chrysler posted an increase, with its 14 percent gain helped by a 51 percent surge in sales of the Pacifica minivan.

November results industry-wide were mixed, with Honda and Ford among those reporting sales gains for the month.

Industry watchers generally expected November vehicle sales to drop for the seventh month this year.
