The stars always shine brightly in Los Angeles and this year, Audi plans to steal the spotlight. The company will debut its all-new 2019 Audi A8 at the LA Auto Show. The new A8 is the fourth generation of the flagship vehicle.

It starts with the exterior where Audi says it put an emphasis on “progressive elegance.” There’s a large, wide Singleframe grille up front and a full-length strip of dynamic lighting on the rear. Lighting is sort of the highlight of the outside as the car can be equipped with HD Matrix LED highlights and rear OLED lamps. The body is 58 percent aluminum with other parts made of steel and carbon fiber reinforced polymer.

The inside is what you’ve come to expect from Audi with ambient lighting, a tailored interior, and seats with all sorts of gadgetry included. There are LED reading lights, multi-setting heated massage seats, footrests, four-zone automatic air conditions and a rear seat entertainment system which comes with a detachable touch-screen rear seat remote.

There’s a new 3.0-liter V6 turbo engine offered up this year, paired with a new 48-volt electric mild-hybrid drivetrain with a 10Ah lithium-ion battery. All models come with dynamic all-wheel steering, active electromechanical suspension, and a powerful all-new electronic chassis platform.

The technology is just remarkable. Audi claims the A8 is the first production automobile developed specially for Level 3 automated driving. When equipped with the Audi AI traffic jam pilot, the car takes charge of driving in slow-moving traffic up to 37 mph. This is powered by its Central Driver Assistance Controller juiced by high-powered NVIDIA processors.

Audi expects the flagship to come to the U.S. market in late 2019. This is a must-see car for anyone in attendance at the LA show. Okay Mercedes, you have been put on notice. The A8 is coming for the S-Class.
