Promising to be “the ultimate performance off-road truck,” Ford is bringing a Raptor off-road performance variant of the mid-size Ranger pickup truck to select markets. By that, we mean don’t hold your breath to see this beast in the U.S. The soonest we’re getting any new Ranger in the States is 2019 and this Raptor is already coming out next year.

The video Ford released today announcing the Ranger Raptor is light on specifics, but it shows us the camouflaged four-door truck doing exactly what we want to see it do. We see it fly (sometimes literally) around a sandy off-road course in the Australian outback kicking up a lot of dust and making a lot of noise. She gets airborne multiple times and always sticks the landing without breaking a sweat.

We love the Ford F-150 Raptor, but its price tag starting at just under $50k makes it out of reach for a lot of off-road nuts who would love to own one. A Ranger Raptor would be a fantastic, more affordable alternative to its big brother bringing more off-road insanity to a wider audience.

The video below has been posted on the Ford Australia, Ford South Africa, and Ford Asia Pacific YouTube pages, so it’s a safe bet that the Ranger Raptor will be available in those markets.

Fingers crossed for a Bronco Raptor.
