When automotive brands release merchandise to supplement car sales, the normal go-to items are things like T-shirts, jackets, shoes, book bags, laptop bags—hell, even office supplies. Lamborghini has chosen to go another route. Lamborghini Mobile recently released a smartphone known as the Alpha-One and it retails for $2,450. Think about it this way: You can be the owner of a rare Lamborghini for less than 1 percent the cost of a new Lamborghini Huracan.

Lamborghini Mobile sells the Alpha-One as an unlocked phone, so buyers need not worry about being tied to a mobile carrier they dislike in order to obtain this rare device. The phone is covered in Italian handmade black leather, while the metal edges are "liquid metal"—a strong than titanium alloy used in golf clubs, aerospace, and surgical scalpels. Basically, you're carrying around the T-1000 wrapped in leather.

The Alpha-One appears to be no slouch in the specs department when compared to the to the latest and greatest of the Android phone market. The phone features the following top tier specs:

  • 5.5 inch WQHD 2560x1440 538 PPI Amoled screen featuring the latest Corning Gorilla Glass Gen 4
  • Android Nougat (7.0)
  • Dolby Atmos Digital Surround
  • 20 megapixel rear facing camera with 4K video recording and 8 megapixel front facing camera
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 820
  • 4GM RAM - 64 GB ROM with SD Memory Slot for expandable memory up to 128 GB

The Alpha-One stacks up well against the competition, but the price is hard to swallow—especially  when you realize the Lamborghini Mobile Alpha-One is a $400 ZTE Axon 7 smartphone re-branded to look Lambo-like. Apparently, the name Lamborghini is worth $2,000 a pop.
