The Ultra-Rare Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Quartet Is Here
Almost all of them have been sold before their public unveiling.
Following months of speculation, Aston Martin showed off its extremely-limited run of 325 Zagato-designed cars Tuesday night. These cars entered production in secret late last year, and exist in four body styles: A hardtop Coupe, the convertible Volante, the rare Speedster, and the newly-announced Shooting Brake. All are part of an exclusive production run of 99 cars, save for the Speedster—only 28 of those will be manufactured.
The Coupe, Volante, and Speedster body styles have already sold out, though Aston Martin is presumably still taking orders for the Shooting Brake, which enters production in 2018.
All Vanquish Zagato cars will be powered by a 592-horsepower, 5.9-liter V12, which will send power through a ZF eight-speed Touchtronic III transmission. Their suspension includes adaptive dampers, which have been tuned specifically for each car to maximize handling prowess. Aston Martin boasts that the Speedster's tail lights in particular pay homage to the Vulcan's filament-like tail lights.
These cars are part of a now-lengthy relationship between Zagato and Aston Martin. Back in May 2011, the V12 Zagato was unveiled in Italy weeks in advance of its racing debut, where it was being prepared to compete in the 24 Hours of the Nurburgring. It was released to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the DB4 Zagato, a re-styled DB4 GT with a more powerful engine and over 100 pounds cut off. There was also the V8 Zagato...but let's not think too much about this cross between a Subaru SVX and a Ford Sierra. It's best if we just drool over the Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake rendering instead.
