Infiniti is issuing a recall and subsequent stop-sale on certain versions of the Q50 sedan and Q60 coupe due to a fuel pump software issue, according to Carscoops. Specifically, the 2.0-liter turbo versions of the 2016-2018 Q50 and 2017 Q60 are affected. Afflicting a reported total of 14,192 cars in America, the issue has to do with a fuel pump control module software fault where gas in the main tank is allowed to reach a lower than acceptable level, resulting in stalling.

Affected cars will need to be brought in to an Infiniti dealer, where fuel pump control software will be updated, presumably free of charge—no mechanical fixes required. Infinitis concerned that happen to be sitting on dealer lots (all 2,156 of them, according to Carscoops) will have to be updated before being delivered to customers.

Unsurprisingly, the majority of the vehicles recalled are of the four-door variety, reflecting the Q50's 11-1 sales ratio over its coupe sibling. Last year, more than 44,000 Q50s were sold while Infiniti only moved 4,000 Q60s. Of the 14,192 cars recalled, 11,843 are Q50s while the remaining 2,349 are Q60s.

The recall is scheduled to begin August 21. Concerned owners may reach Infiniti customer service at 1-800-662-6200.
