The 100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty lasts for seven years and covers almost all of the primary drivetrain components (minus components in hybrid and fuel-cell vehicles). Major engine and transmission components, in addition to any internally lubricated parts, are all covered for repairs or the replacement of components if issues arise. 

During repairs, the warranty provides a substitute vehicle reimbursement to cover expenses with a rental. The warranty also packages some basic travel protection that will reimburse lodging and meal expenses on trips 150 miles or greater from home.

There isn’t too much to dislike about Toyota’s CPO program, but it’s slightly lax when it comes to the selection criteria for what vehicles get covered. Compared to other CPO programs, you may find older vehicles in Toyota’s CPO inventory, which may be an important consideration if you are looking for something slightly used.

To make it into the CPO program, vehicles have to be under seven years of age and 85,000 miles on the engine. The company also uses a lower minimum inspection process compared to competitors. While many companies use 174 points of inspection to vet the vehicles that get into their CPO programs, Toyota has a minimum inspection of 160 points. This can extend up to 174 points, but this varies from dealership to dealership depending on individual choice and how the dealership is equipped to handle the inspection.
