If you spent the weekend trying to buy a [Land Rover](<https://www.thedrive.com/category/land-rover-news>) Defender, Discovery, or Range Rover chances are you found that wasn't an option. That's because Jaguar Land Rover isn't selling these models at the moment.

A Jaguar Land Rover spokesperson confirmed to *The Drive* that the Range Rover, Discovery, and Defender models are currently under a stop-sale order and have been recalled due to an issue with the airbag system.

"JLR is voluntarily conducting a recall to address a potential issue affecting the driver’s airbag system in certain Range Rover, Discovery and Defender vehicles manufactured between April 2019 and June 2026," the spokesperson said.

How many Discoverys, Defenders, and Range Rovers were built, and sold, during that time is unknown at the moment.

New models affected by the recall can not be sold until the situation has been remedied for safety reasons. JLR has resolved the issue for models in production, which are rolling down the line and shipping to dealers now. A repair service campaign is underway now and customers can continue to place orders for new models today. But already built models sitting on dealer lots will need to be fixed "as quickly as possible," according to JLR.

JLR said it is not aware of any issues with airbag non-deployment situations so far. The recall and stop-sale is a preemptive action after internal engineering testing discovered the issue.

JLR said it has informed the NHTSA of the situation, though as of the time of publishing no recall or stop-sale notice has been published by the safety agency.

Owners of potentially affected vehicles will be notified and informed of next steps for repair. Repairs will be carried out free of charge, and every effort will be made to minimize inconvenience to customers, JLR told *The Drive*.

Customers can contact their local dealership to inquire about repairs, but JLR will be sending out recall notices to alert owners of the recall.
