# Watch a Corvette E-Ray Scorch a Ferrari F8, Lamborghini Huracan at the Drag Strip

Chevy's new [Corvette E-Ray](<https://www.thedrive.com/news/2024-corvette-e-ray-is-the-quickest-vette-ever-with-hybrid-awd-and-655-hp>)—the first ever hybrid Corvette—isn't actually great at being a hybrid. Its tiny 1.9 kWh battery pack can only provide a handful of all-electric miles and it still uses a thirsty 6.2-liter V8, so the Corvette didn't suddenly become a Prius. However, that was never really the point of the E-Ray. Instead, [Chevy's ](<https://www.thedrive.com/category/chevrolet-news>)objective for the hybrid Corvette was performance and, at least according to this new video from Hagerty's Jason Cammisa, Chevy nailed it.

To prove just how fast the Corvette E-Ray is, Cammisa lined it up against two of the fastest supercars on the planet: the[ Ferrari F8 Tributo](<https://www.thedrive.com/new-cars/29860/2020-ferrari-f8-tributo-first-drive-review-a-star-is-born>) and Lamborghini [Huracan Evo Spyder](<https://www.thedrive.com/new-cars/35694/2020-lamborghini-huracan-evo-spyder-review-the-best-social-media-influencer-is-still-a-v10-lambo>). Both cars cost about triple what the hybrid 'Vette costs, but budget performance has always been the Corvette's strong suit.

Before we talk about the drag race, let's first check the specs of these three supercars. The Corvette E-Ray uses the standard Stingray's 495 horsepower 6.2-liter V8 but it's aided by an additional 160 horsepower electric front motor, giving it a combined 655 horsepower and all-wheel drive. While the Ferrari F8 Tributo uses a twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 that makes 710 horsepower and only drives its rear wheels. The Lamborghini Huracan Evo Spyder is, in this case, also rear-wheel drive (there is an all-wheel drive version) and packs a 5.2-liter V10 that pumps out 631 horsepower.

The Corvette E-Ray has a natural edge over its Italian rivals, being both all-wheel drive and hybrid. Its front electric motor not only adds more traction off the line but it delivers additional, instant electric torque. Which means launching the E-Ray is far simpler and more consistent than launching either of the Italians, both of whom decided to light up their rear tires a bit before finally hooking up.

At first glance, it looks like the Corvette E-Ray walks the Ferrari and Lamborghini, ripping off a 2.4 second 0-60 mph time and an astonishing 10.4 second quarter-mile time, beating the Italians in both categories. However, as with most comparisons, it's a bit more complicated than that. While the E-Ray does beat both cars through the quarter-mile, it isn't going to be faster than either in every circumstance. However, I won't spoil the entire video, I'll let Cammisa explain the rest below.

Nico is a writer and reviewer from New Jersey who probably thinks he’s a lot funnier than he actually is. His love of cars began when he was just a kid playing Gran Turismo 3, grinding out enough race wins with a Mazda Miata to save up for an in-game RUF 911. That passion for small, lightweight sports cars drove his desire to learn more about the industry, get his hands on as many cars as he could, and bring those experiences to life on the page. He cut his teeth writing about BMWs, Volkswagens, and Audis, mostly, and has owned far too many of each. He’s on his fourth 3 Series sedan, but all of his old, cheap German cars have forced him to learn more about car maintenance than his mechanical capability can handle. Too many late nights have been spent scrambling to get a car running by morning so he could get to work. For some reason, he never seems to learn that old Bimmers probably aren’t the best daily drivers. But he loves more than just old German cars. He’ll gladly drive and discuss anything with four (or even three) wheels. Cars aren’t his only passions, though. Nico is also a big nerd and loves movies, video games, comic books, and cares far too much about the New York Giants. So don’t be surprised if you see football references or dumb, obscure movie quotes in any of his car reviews.
