This 2026 Toyota Prius Hit 100,000 Miles in Eight Months. Here’s How It Held Up

A medical transporter racked up 100,000 miles in a 2026 Toyota Prius LE in just eight months, and he shared his service records with us.

It’s not surprising that a Toyota Prius is still running well at 100,000 miles. But to rack up that many miles in eight months? That’s got to be one of the most aggressive unofficial durability tests the current-gen car’s gone through. Even NYC taxis don’t usually go that far in such a short time. So, naturally, when I heard about Shane Somers’ 2026 Prius LE hitting this milestone, I was curious to hear how the car had fared.

Somers has a medical supply transportation business, shuttling critical items to hospitals and nursing homes. He put 110,000 miles on a new Land Cruiser last year. After we wrote about that, I told him to hit me up if he ever wanted to share more insights on super high-mileage experiences with new vehicles.

Well, last week I got another note from him: “My 2026 Toyota Prius LE reached 100,000 miles today. I’ve owned the vehicle for eight months now, and it took over for my trusty Land Cruiser not that long ago, it seems.” Somers reported that the car’s running great and still pretty much looks mint. Even the driver’s seat, which now has countless hours of butt-time, still looks pretty darn nice.

10 Oil Changes
13 Tire Rotations
3 Engine Air Filters
3 Cabin Air Filters
1 Engine Coolant/Inverter Service
1 Set of Tires (5 flats with the factory tires, none with the Goodyear Assurance tires)
1 Alignment
1 Set of Front Wipers Replaced

So, outside of standard prescribed maintenance, it’s been 100,000 miles of drama-free driving. Call this validation to point to when you need to articulate why automotive immortality is just a matter of fluid and filter changes!

The first few years of a car’s life are always going to be the strongest. All the bushings and metals haven’t been decayed by the environment yet, so the vehicle’s optimally insulated against the road and outside air. But still, I find it interesting to hear how a car driven this much this early in its life is behaving. And it sounds like this one’s doing just fine so far.
