This 1975 Volvo 240 Is a Mid-Engine, Twin-Turbo Lambo V8 Underneath. And It’s Still AWD

Volvo and Lamborghini aren’t often mentioned in the same sentence, but that’s exactly what’s happening here with YouTuber Peter Bjorck, the creator of the Volvoghini. Scroll through his Instagram, and you’ll see that he has a thing for mid-engined, Lambo V10-swapped Volvos. And not just any Volvo—old-school 240s—making his latest creation as silly as it is badass.

Bjorck has been building and refining his 1975 Volvo 240/244 for several months, and in his latest episode, he sets out to correct a few gizmos plaguing the build. Though the car seems to run just fine and can even be seen here doing a wheelie while launching it at the drag strip—where it ran an impressive 5.3-second one-eighth-mile run at 137 mph—there are a few ECU issues to sort out, as well as some ABS and electrical bits. He also had to rewire the MoTec ECU control unit for the all-wheel-drive system, and from the looks of it, the front wheels are now getting traction.

A few more parts will make their way into the build, primarily made of carbon fiber, as Bjorck tries to keep the weight as close to 1,000 kilos as possible. Right now, it weighs 1,437 kilos (about 3,167 pounds), and most of that weight comes from the frame and the mighty twin-turbo V8 he plucked from a Lamborghini. If you peek at his Instagram or other YouTube videos, you’ll see that he’s also owned a Gallardo and an Audi R8. Good taste.

What a cool build.
