Good morning and welcome to *The Downshift*, or *TDS* for short.

*The Downshift* is *The Drive*'s new weekday early morning quick-hit news rundown that brings the latest automotive news from around the world in one place. Pair *TDS* with your favorite Pop-Tart and coffee.

*TDS* is now in the middle of its second week and the feedback has been both welcomed and taken into consideration. Thank you. The series will continue to evolve based on feedback both in the comments and via email (tips@thedrive.com).

*TDS* is meant to be light, tight, and right going heavy on news and short on words. It informs, but won't take long to scan through. Stories are summarized in a single sentence with a link providing the ability to go deeper for those seeking more information.
