[Future Fords will get Tesla's NACS connector built in](), while current owners will receive CCS-to-NACS adapters. There's a problem though, because those adapters are taking a while to trickle out due to delays in manufacturing, according to [*Detroit Free Press*](). Ford announced earlier this year that adapters would be [available for free for prior EV customers](), as in those who own a [Mustang Mach-E]() or [F-150 Lightning](). [When the gates opened in late February](), customers overwhelmed Ford's order system, demonstrating how highly anticipated the adapters are. Unfortunately for them, Ford isn't keeping up, with customers reportedly receiving emails announcing deliveries could be postponed. This is what we anticipated. While we’re shipping weekly, reservations continue to come in," said Marty Günsberg, a spokesperson for Ford's Model E EV division, to *Detroit Free Press*. "The supply is constrained. Sales are up and customers continue to reserve their complimentary adapter. We keep getting reservations." [Ford]()'s backlog of adapter orders isn't shrinking slower than expected solely due to shortages, either. Years after its launch, the updated 2024 Mach-E is now selling in record numbers, nearly doubling over last year's sales as of the end of May. It's currently the second-bestselling electric SUV in the country, behind only the [Tesla Model Y](). With [Tesla's tanking demand]() however, who knows how long that'll last. Those who already own Mach-Es can expect to receive their adapters based on when they placed their orders, as Ford's fulfilling requests first-come, first-serve.
