And like [so many other things](), Japan has a unique take on the concept. One of the country's under-appreciated exports is cab-over commercial truck chassis, so it's natural that some of them get converted into JDM campers. And thanks to the 25-year rule, they're now legal to import to the U.S. Like many campers, this one has a lot of names. It's a 2001 [Toyota]() Camroad Global King, and it's currently listed for sale with an asking price of $39,999 by [Kuruma Imports](), a Florida-based company specializing in JDM cars and trucks. It's also an "Anniversary Limited" model, marked by the decal on the side, with what looks like either a person wearing big sunglasses or something less PG. It's unclear what anniversary is being celebrated, however. ![2001 Toyota Camroad Global King]() ![2001 Toyota Camroad Global King]() ![2001 Toyota Camroad Global King]() Based on a JDM commercial-vehicle chassis, the Camroad Global King is about 204 inches long, or more than a foot shorter than the shortest-wheelbase [Ford]() Transit you can buy today. Packed into that space are a kitchen with a sink, stove, microwave, and refrigerator, and a bathroom with a shower and cassette toilet. You also get a closet, an external bike rack, and a roof-mounted air conditioner. What you don't get is a lot of space. The sleeping area is more of a shelf than a bed. Buried somewhere under the cab and those domestic amenities is Toyota's 5L 3.0-liter diesel inline-four, which was used in a bunch of the automaker's commercial vehicles as well as the Land Cruiser Prado, Hilux, and Crown Comfort taxi. Output isn't listed, but don't expect to be going anywhere in a hurry. For a 25-year-old vehicle that someone used to live in, it also looks remarkably clean inside and out in the accompanying photos. From kei cars to sports cars, the JDM scene has lots of cool stuff. This camper represents yet another example, one that will be a lot easier to park than a [conventional RV]().
